Long post about TIP in the zoo ahead:D
it actually contains 5 days worth of things.
so you may wanna turn away before u start reading this post xD
day 1: 5Dec
an unearthly hr to wake up cos i woke up before 6. my awesome body clock.
or maybe i think im too excited to sleep xD
yup left hse at about 615. travelled from one end of singapore to the other end cos zoo is rather far away from my hse, from dark dawn to bright morning. poor meD:
but still, im too early. arrived at the zoo at 8 instead of the meeting time at 830 xD
met the others who are also allocated to the zoo for TIP.
so after that learned how to clock in and out everyday:D
after that i was assigned to TreeTop Trail, alone D: omg so scary.
then met my mentors. but then the first day only kumar and boonkong on duty xD
also met my senior- hui min, another volunteer during her hols in uni xD
but actually first day nothing much ahh. follow them arnd when they feed the animals, to the 'tree-cutting area' and such. kinda boring the first day cos i had nothing to do, just follow arnd and get used to the environment.
hahha its my orientation laa:D
hhehe and i met some of the cute animals at treetop: the tapir (nearest to our shelter area- the 'little kampong'), babirusa, otters, siamangs, mousedeers, false ghavial, white tigers, hornbills and the proboscis monkeys. did i leave anyone? xD
the otters are soo freaking cute. they are my favourite animals at treetop xD
yup just went off at 4 cos seriously first day was too slacking :x
day 2: 6Dec
arrived rather early. this time, all my mentors are on duty- selvan and ser seng xD
first went to clean the dens of the tapirs xD but cos they are usually dirtied by fallen leaves only. and omg i get to use the type of broom that cleaners use. hahha kinda hard to sweep xD
after that, went to help prepare the food for the animals at their token feeding time. everyday its actually a routine. no wonder ppl get sian rather soon xD
after awhile, i get to feed the babirusa. first time feeding lehh:D
but when i throw orange and watermelon to them, they didnt eat. i really tot sth happened and went back, calling for help. LOL
but actually, they just dun like the food and just waiting for me to throw the bananas to them cos they love bananas more than anything.
then went arnd with them to feed the animals again:D after that went to the tree cutting area to clean up and then later, slack:x
yayy to lunch after that xD my mentors are so nice to help me take my lunch, on bungee .__.
after lunch, went to do the most tiring job of all, cleaning the rooftop T.T
the leaves wet abit hard to sweep lehh. somemore i stand there feed all the mosquitoesD:
but then i considered quite slack alr. my mentors did most of the work xD
so stand there and stare at the female hornbill: siti. heard of her sad story of not being to fly cos she had a phobia i think. and her bad bf: jay .___.
ohshit i think i everyday go zoo and slack instead of doing work D:
and i knock off at 4 on time cos i got nothing to do xD
hmm i also realised that the animals super guai and really listen to the zoo-keepers one leh.
the animals are like soo trained and cute:D
ohyeah i met michelle everyday after our tip and exchange stories of our tip days xD kinda nice to have someone to talk to on the way home xD
cos i take 2 freaking hrs to travel. doing that alone kinda sux D:
but her stories about the kids: they are soo cute:D
although my animals are cute too:D
day 3: 7Dec
arrived on time. i think i take the same bus to interchange, same mrt to amk and same bus to the zoo. hahha:D
so reached and again, cleaned the dens of the tapirs again. seriously its a routine xD
then prepared the food:D the food arrived abit late that day. then cleanup the kitchen. filled with little little food and fruits here and there and also ants xD
spam the hose water everywhere. like playing with water hor xD hahha
then the animals' feeding time again. i fed the babirusa:D haiz they forever wanna to wait for bananas.
later helped them to feed the siamangs. but since they always hang arnd on the tree, they must use a super long pole to reach to the siamangs.
the siamangs super cute leh. they are like one family. the baby simbu very cute and jumpy:D the visitors like the siamangs alot xD
watched the mentors feeding the otters. dun see them cutecute ahh. they are pretty aggressive and super noisy when theres food for them xD
after lunch, it started to rain cats and dogs after we feed the siamangs.
the tour guide was like kinda kelian. cos there was no visitors to hear her talk about the animals and she was like 'you four are like my only audience. must listen carefully ah. later got pop quiz' xD kinda funny^^
also no one see the feeding of otters. i feed one leh. hahha. i think got afew ba. there got shelter by the big trees xD
after that, it was the feeding of the white tigers. heheh there super alot of visitors cos its sheltered. so kinda squeezy and must get the visitors to stay away from the ppl who is feeding cos of the blood of the raw chicken and beef xD
also the white tigers supper cool~ theres omar, winnie and jippie:D
omar de only male like to act shuai:D always jumping to catch its food. then the visitors will always go 'woahhh' hahha
after afew times, i think he got tired and stop jumping arnd xD hahha
then hang arnd at the zoo and go off later than 4 xD
went to the wild africa to see the animals. all photos on fb xD
met michelle and go home again together:D
day 4: 8Dec
arrived. went to feed the babirusa. haha i think everyday do the same thing xD
ohdear there was a visitor with her child there.
somemore i there alone must answer back her question alone D: but her kid very cute:D
funfun to feed the animals:D
went back to prepare the food again xD
then again went to feed the animals at their feeding time. helped to feed the siamang again:D
then went to the tree cutting area and do sangkang of cleaning again D:
after lunch, do the sangkang again and helped to clean the 'little kampong' and the dens of the babirusa. soo many sangkang. hahha xD
then feed the otters again in the afternoon.
after all the feeding time, went arnd the zoo to cut the plant and leaves for the herbivore animals. woww very tiring walking arnd in bootes somemore D;
after that slack here slack there. hahah but when its 4 and i can go, it started to rain.___.
even though my mentors tell me to leave before it starts rain cos theres nothing for me to do xD so slack awhile before leaving cos i doubt the rain will stop anytime soon.
went to the shop and bought some cute keychains from the zoo shop xD
day 5: 9Dec
ohdear, so fast D: its de last day of my tip in zoo alr. why time passed so fast when im having fun with my mentors and the animalsD:
helped to prepare the food. cleaning the sweet potato and putting the food in the fridge and such. hahha ohyeah ytd was the no govt day.
and there seem to be problem cutting the food cos no govt xD hahha
after awhile went to feed the babirusa cos my mentors were busy with the food xD
then it was the feeding time of the animals again.
since it was my last day in zoo, my mentors gave me the chance to feed the siamangs and otters:D awww i will miss the animals and the feeding D:
then went to the tree-cutting area and clean up again. but since theres no govt that day, cleaning up is a much simplier job cos just sweep everything to the soil xD
lunch time~ after my lunch, went to kfc cos liting and cheryl was here for lunch xD
hehehhe listen to their toop trip. they sound really fun.
mine de tip in zoo also quite fun mah:D haha we just exchange stories and chat:D so long nvr see them cos of the hols and also they were overseas for toop xD
after lunch went to clean the dens of the babirusa. oppps suddenly got alot of visitors staring at us cleaning the poops. LOL
then its de feeding time. again fed the otters. aww like the last time i feeding the otters liao. so sad D: i will miss them ttm.
then witnessed the feeding of the white tigers and the false ghaviel xD
hahha thai boy and garage de false ghavial xD they kinda scary.
then went to the primate breeding centre and stare at the monkeys and their child xD the baby kinda cute xD stick to its mama one xD
went back and visit the otters and the hornbill again. like one of the last time seeing them D:
stick arnd with my mentors and hear their wonderful stories with the animals and their different behaviours xD animals are such wonderful and amazing creatures:D
and followed them arnd to see the closing of the animals back to their dens for closure of the zoo D: kinda saddening. its de end of tip alr.
so i stick arnd and stare at the only tapir that i can see until i finally go off at arnd 6 plus D:
this tip to the zoo is really really very fun. it helped me to realise my love for animals, with the exception of afew xD
but i really enjoyed my time at the zoo with my mentors and the animals. aww im starting to miss them alr D:
even though the job maybe tiring, everyday i stink of different smell like the food/fruits, poops and even sweat.
and i really fed alot of mosquitoes there. i didnt count the number of mosquitoes bites i have but i think theres at least 20 of them:x who say mosquitoes dun like my blood.
well at least i have my lotion to help repel alittle mosquitoes away. if not i think i will attract more of them cos of my sweet blood and my sweat xD
aww too bad i didnt have the time to tour arnd the whole zooD: its like rare chance to explore the zoo for free but i didnt. still i managed to see the animals that i wanna to see.
in short, i didnt regret joining tip cos i can meet awesome ppl and animals there.

after tip, its back to the reality and hwk, studies and such D:
